hi,

System.Drawing is the only clear API.
You've to wait for a couple of month untill SWF is reactived.
In short Gdk/Pango  is not a serious API to write complicated graphics 
with text.

The official position from mono developpers is to use gdk# but it is a 
terrible API for drawing.
I wrote a graphic application under gtkmm/gdkmm/pangomm and it was 
terrible.
That's my feeling. forget gdk and pango.
