I will have much more time to look at this over the weekend, but let me
offer some advice, having not tried the source code myself:
* 1.1.x will have MUCH better performance, especially wrt the gc.
I'd appreciate your experience on the unstable series. Note that
there are some performance problems with the latest 1.1.x
release, but that should not affect memory usage
* What are you using for your RAM usage numbers? RSS is the number
you want to look at.
