As I don't have enough knowledge in that area (what do if not 
available?) I let the community decide.. :-)
Choices are:
a.) forget about the patch
b.) implement with global header (as-is)
c.) use stdint.h and - well, do what(?) in case this file is to no avail..
d.) other ideas?
