Darren, a recent change in MonoTouch 4.x unearthed a case [1] where a
NullReferenceException could occur in the AddressBook. It was not possible to
reach that code before - at least not in the "right order" to get a crash, but
with that change it quickly become obvious. 

It may not be related to your issue (there's not enough information to be sure)
but I wanted to let you know that MonoTouch 4.2.2 has a fix that _could_ help
you.
