When trying to search for files with Directory.GetFiles and accidentally
referencing a file instead of a directory, the internally used
Directory.GetFilesRecurse method dies with a StackOverflowException. The
Microsoft implementation throws a 

  System.IO.IOException:
    Message=The directory name is invalid.

instead.
