Darren,

  I have tried this on:

iPhone 2G
iPhone 3G
iPhone 3GS
iPod 2G
iPod 3G
iPhone 4
iPad

with iOS versions from 3.0 all the way to 4.2.  I'm afraid without much more
information my hands are tied.  Perhaps its related to the contents of the
address book?
