As of Mono 2.10.6, the above steps to reproduce instead results in the
application silently terminating.

By using instead "mono --debug <applicationName>", the following is output:

System.Windows.Forms.SplitContainer doesn't implement interface
System.ComponentModel.ISupportInitialize


This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Maybe this bug requires a higher priority than "Enhancement"?
