I cannot replicate this in the simuator on 4.0.1, as for the device your crash
is:

Application Specific Information:
Martian Miner failed to launch in time

You set a breakpoint in the startup path.  iOS has a watchdog, you have 10
seconds to return from FinishedLaunching, and if you don't apple will kill your
app.  This is what has happened here.
