The PreserveAttribute is not applied throughout the type hierarchy. Apply it on
Customers and BusinessObjects. Could you confirm that it works for you if you
do so?

As a side note, in the future, we could have something like:

[Preserve (Inherit = true)]

But it would walk the inheritance chain down, so you would still have to place
it on Customers to have it applied all the way through.
