Ok, I understand that, but if I use the 2.6.7 compiler and the 2.6.7 runtime
then the compiler does not crash.

So it seems the compiler code has been changed in a way that exposes a known
bug in all previous versions of mono, including the current stable version.

That seems a bit odd if the goal is for the compilers to be compatible with
older runtimes.
