I cannot reproduce this:
$ mono --version
Mono JIT compiler version 2.8 (mono_2_8/50a2d76 Tue Sep 21 14:56:27 EDT 2010)
Copyright (C) 2002-2010 Novell, Inc and Contributors. www.mono-project.com
    TLS:           __thread
    SIGSEGV:       altstack
    Notifications: epoll
    Architecture:  x86
    Disabled:      none
    Misc:          debugger softdebug
    LLVM:          supported, not enabled.
    GC: Included Boehm (with typed GC and Parallel Mark)
$ mono BinaryDeserializationTest.exe
Time: 10/14/2010 2:05:03 PM

Perhaps it was fixed after the 2.8 release.
