Eno,

  The patch in comment #4 fixes the testcase provided in comment #3 by
extending auth support to the transport element as well.  I confirmed that the
testcase in comment #3 works without changes (except for login of course) on
windows, and the patch brings us in line with that behaviour.

  The patch in comment #5 adds on to that patch by bringing this support to
MonoTouch.

Thoughts?
