We have yet to ever push an update through autoupdate (it was introduced in
1.1, and we have yet to have a stable release since).

I assume you are referring to the beta 'time-bomb' intended to keep people from
using the beta forever.  I am pretty sure we want the product to stop
functioning after the programmed date, or else we wouldn't have added it.

Note this applies to betas only, released versions come with a 30 day trial,
after which the product will also not work until purchased.
