Hey René,
  The fact that you sometimes need to restart xsp2 several times might mean
that the issue is outside Mono. Can you try running the service on a different
distro with the same version of Mono and see if it happens? Also, when it
happens on your gentoo server - do you get any exceptions thrown to the console
(with xsp2) or in the apache logs (for mod_mono?). You might want to turn
debugging on for the application (in Web.config as well as in mod_mono/xsp2)
and recompile mod_mono with debugging enabled for full information.
  Please let me know about the outcome of the tests proposed above and reopen
the bug once you have more information from them, thanks!
