This is actually not a bug.

I just discovered this in a machine which somehow had the MONO_PATH env var
overriden to be /usr/lib/mono/2.0 , so mcs was loading mscorlib 2.0.

Would a patch be accepted to have 'mcs' script set MONO_PATH to
@prefix@/lib/mono/1.0:$MONO_PATH like it happens similarly with smcs[1], to
prevent this?
