Hmm, if you don't get the errors on KDE, but do on Gnome, that we lead me to
think it has something to do with NetworkManager or some difference between
KDE/Gnome networking.

Are you using Wireshark on both boxes?  Could you try removing it from the one
you have problems with just so we can eliminate that as a possibility?
