I'm unable to reproduce this with your test case. I'm using mono/master
(812c108cd36fb5c059d5) on CentOS 5.5 x86_64, and it works as expected
displaying:

Got a 116
Got a 101
Got a 115
Got a 116

in response to pressing the keys "test". However, I do notice that it seems to
clear the console after displaying "Press ESCAPE to exit the main server
thread..." which is a little odd.
