Sorry my previous comments are misleading. I have been experimenting and this
is what I have found. 

>From a fresh upload to the device the application works. After an unhandled
exception when the app is restarted all webservice and xml deserializalizations
fail with the original error.

When I hard reboot the ipad, the application starts working again until I throw
an unhandled exception. The behaviour in the web service then goes back to the
null reference error.

This is 100% reproducable.
