We have a similar problem on 64 Bit Linux using Oracle Client 11. I have found
a solution which is working on 64 Bit but doesn't seem to be working on 32 Bit.
Brad's sample works with this patch.

Maybe someone deeper into OCI is able to figure out a flag combination working
on all systems?
