The open-vm-tools in the Mono 2.4rc1 vmware image are working perfectly.

Here's everything that I tested and that work:
* Mouse in/out from guest to host
* Moust in/out from host to guest
* Copy text from guest to host
* Copy text from host to guest
* Drag file from guest to host
* Drag file from host to guest

Marking verified.
