ok, I just tried it again, and I figured out the sequence. Basically try the
sequence above twice.

New and improved steps to reproduce:
1. Open Visual Studio.
2. Create a new winforms project.
   1. File
   2. New Project
   3. Visual C#
   4. Windows
   5. Windows Forms Application
3. [The Linux server should be running.]
4. Mono->Run Remotely in Mono
5. Select a server, then click "Ok"
6. Right click the tray icon, choose "Stop".
7. Notice that the winforms app will close on the linux side, and the windows
tray icon will disappear.
8. Click "Mono -> run remotely in mono" again
9. Right click the tray icon, choose "Stop".
10. Notice that the tray icon disappears, but that the winforms app running in
linux stays there.
