MonoVS is currently very bad at detecting networking / firewall issues - if
either hands or throws some weird exception in the remoting code.

For some reason, you have to completely open the Linux firewall, not just the
port you're running the server on - for instance I'm using 192.168.8.2:8888 for
the server, but it's still trying to open connections to open random ports.
