Thanks, I'll do my best to try and build from svn trunk (which I failed for
now).

In the meantime I worked around the short month name issue by patching MMM to
MMMM in Mono 2.4 source tarball then rebuilding it all and using the resulting
Mono.Data.Tds.dll as an app-local assembly, plus using a special database user
with the correct language set.
