Ok, using the info above I was able to get it working fully.

Steps to get it fully working:
1. change the xorg mouse driver to vmmouse
2. chmod 4755 /usr/bin/vmware-user-suid-wrapper
3. Fix .desktop file
4. Add .desktop file to autostart on login
