I don't think that will solve the problem - it seems to be a bit more systemic
than that.  If I change the loop to only 100 (which runs fine), but then call
it 11+ times, it still crashes.. this seems to mean that it is 'using up' or
leaking trampolines, so it will happen regardless...

Basically, it seems I can't use generic methods if this is the case.. ):
