Should we just prevent the user from entering a period in the package name?

The period is technically in the list of legal characters, however the
guidelines say:

"When naming packages for openSUSE, the maintainer must use the dash '-' as the
delimiter for name parts. The maintainer must NOT use an underscore '_', a plus
'+', or a period '.' as a delimiter. "

This would be the easy way to fix it, and would enforce openSUSE packaging
guidelines.

Thoughts?
