Your patch is not acceptable as it leaves the thread unregistered but been able
to
access managed objects. If a GC happens, all sort of bad stuff will happen.

It looks like an OSX 10.6 bug and unless we can properly work-around it, we
simply won't be able to support NSThreadWillExitNotification.
