Thanks Marek for ur value addition.
I downloaded from the sources_trunk . When i tried to 'make' only System.Web,
it is showing Error 1 and Error 2 ..
So i tried to download 
Mono , Mod-Mono, XSP , and Mono-basic from the same trunk location and deployed
on my Linux machine. 
Unfortunately, it  is not recognising my webpage "Internet Explorer cannot
display the webpage" :(( 
Did i miss something? I have not changed anything in httpd.conf as i have not
done anything to Apache.
Alias /test "/usr/local/lib/monotestcomp"
AddMonoApplications default "/test:/usr/local/lib/monotestcomp"

<Location test> 
    SetHandler mono 
</Location>

I am trying to find the reasons why apache/mono is not recognising my webpage.
Pl. send your thoughts on this. Thanks once again.
