I cannot reproduce this.

"mod_mono" is added by default for ASP.NET packages, so it's not name mangling.
 It would mean that the custom dependency is simply not getting added at all.

RPM's that I created with custom dependencies show the correct dependencies
when checked with:

rpm -q --requires -p my.rpm
