It looks like I was hitting bug 531062 and didn't realize it since it's
sporadic. It just lined up perfectly with the above steps so it looked like
this was the way to reproduce it.

And then when I just set a break point and didn't "run remotely in mono"
before, and it actually stopped at the break point, it looked like this was
valid. Closing as dupe.
