Let me just add that in the case that caused me to look at this,
(odf-converter), we are using a mkbundled standalone executable, to be usable
on systems with no regular Mono installaion. This of course means that running
mcs (or gmcs) each time to compile the same small C# class would be
exceptionally silly, would have required including also gmcs built bundled,
etc.
