It's a cairo bug present in 1.6.4 (at least) which is used inside (its
embedded) libgdiplus 1.9.1 and 2.0. Building against my distro cairo (1.4.8)
does not show the produce the artifacts.

Right now I'm not sure when (or how) we'll be bundling a newer cairo release.
