Another Try

This should be a little better, I think this patch should be a lot clearer, and
without messing up the formatting!

probably messiest part is splitting out the the selection code so it can be
called in both ItemsMouseUp and ItemsMouseDown, seems like a checkbox type
selection shortcuts the normal selection so I split it into two functions.
