Fix

Apart from the fixes described in the original bug report, I also removed
support for the "versionHeader" setting. This was a documentation bug in the
NET 1.1 SDK that was corrected in the .NET 2.0 SDK (and higher).

I double-checked that MS does not support this setting.

I've commited a standalone test for this issue as gert/standalone/bug434578.
