Sorry, the info given in part 4 of comment #3 is a red herring as far as this
issue is concerned (but see bug #444811). In fact, adding the
-imports:System.Collections.Generic does get rid of the original error message.

I still think this must be a bug though, since the message still occurs when
all files in the project have Imports System.Collections.Generic at the top.
