It really looks like something I had to fix in libgdiplus to work with cairo
1.6.x (antialiasing change). My guess is that the cairo 1.6.x change is
reflected inside pixman and openSUSE includes this change in libpixman (now
that it's a separate lib). 

That does not explain the lack of earlier bug report from other recent distros
nor why other cairo apps are ok (but for this one we're playing a lot with AA).

Geoff told me libgdiplus HEAD is working (I'll try in a bit) so updating
libgdiplus to HEAD is an option. It's risky but then making the same changes to
the old branch is risky too. 

Actually I'm not sure which options are open so late in the release process ?!?
