Actually there is another issue on X11 that closing a form does not work (it
infinitely waits for WM_SHOWWINDOW at WaitForHwndMessage) and hence Gert's
repro case does not finish even with my patch.

Though this issue is different from Timer. I'm hitting this issue in my XIM
work too, which does not involve any Timers.
