I've just tried it on MS.NET and I get the same exception "Multiple controls
with the same ID '_ClientState' were found. FindControl requires that controls
have unique IDs.".

That means that Mono's behavior now matches MS.NET's and the bug is in the AJAX
Control Toolkit.
