I had problems with valgrind too until I tried without it...

it's quite slow (even without valgrind) and eventually FF crashed
/usr/bin/firefox: line 208: 19852 Segmentation fault      $MOZ_PROGRAM "$@"

Fer, I did not check back the media sourcecode  but your patch looked quite
small. Are you sure you fixed all cases where string functions are used on
memory buffers (that are not guaranteed to be NULL terminated) ?
