This is still an issue with 1.9.1 P2 and is problematic for just about any kind
of Microsoft IIS based web and webservice connection, as most of these require
NTLM based authentication.

Their appears to be code to handle NTLM in the Mono.Http, but nothing in System
which doesn't do much for .Net compatibility.
