The player.xaml has the following in the toplevel Canvas element:

xmlns:Background="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" 


the parser complains:

Could not parse element (null), attribute Background, error: It is illegal to
add a prefix (xmlns:Background) to the default namespace.


removing that makes the video player appear, altho it doesn't look perfect (the
buttons look weird), but it does work.
