It turn out both machines I had this failing were faulty. My Gentoo box somehow
failed the configure step for libgdiplus and did not compile in the jpg
handling, and my Mono-provided virtual machine didn't have the libjpeg
development packages installed.

My fault, but I blame non-descriptive error messages ;-) . Could 'resgen'
output something along 'image format PNG not supported' instead of the cryptic

Error: Invalid ResX input.
