You don't mention which version of vbnc you're using.

Anyways, I just committed a change which should print better information about
where the error occurs in the source code, you can either update to SVN HEAD or
download this: personales.ya.com/rolf/vbnc/bug411572/vbnc.exe, replace your
vbnc.exe with that file, and try again.
