Forget my previous comment. I assumed the attached program failed it's
connection (but it works) so the problem was not visible (and I didn't notice
because I redirected the output).

I could duplicate the issue with the full mono+mcs at r68805 (1.2.2). 

Right now I'm testing this same setup with an updated Novell.Directory.Ldap
(svn head) and everything seems fine (sockets are closed). So it looks like
what I suspected in comment #21.

I'll let this test run complete tonight and try to determine at which
point/revision this was fixed tomorrow morning.
