I don't really know if it is an API, but is there a way to folow konqueror,
when made a right click on a .desktop file, in advanced there is a property who
say "run as user", when enter here "root" and then start the app handled by the
desktop file, a popup is displayed, with same aspect of "kdesu", this not
"sudo" , right ?
Also there is similar prog than kdesu for gnome, i thing gtksu or something
like this.
So without wrapper of API, but simply in the start process code , kdesu -c
Process.filename + process.argument -u process.user ..
As it a pop for entering the root password is displayed, but this is the way of
a lot root tool, like pkg manager, network config .........

Other simply way should be to create a tempory .Desktop file and exec it,
because it is a simple text file , no ?
