I agree that this is change introduced in 2.x. Regardless whether it should be
considered a fix or just a change, a method name for an explicitly
implementated nested interface emitted by csc 1.x now no longer matches one
emitted by mcs.
I would prefer mcs to match the csc 1.x behavior, and gmcs to match csc 2.x
(and higher). At least, if this does not introduce runtime regressions.
