--- Comment #13 from Miguel de Icaza <miguel at novell.com> 2008-12-17 10:52:17 MST ---
I am going to revert this change on trunk and on 2.2 for the following reasons:
Even with the QA and our tests, 2.2 preview 3 shipped with broken code that
nobody noticed. On OSX Mono would break in many ways, none caught
(apparently) by our tests, or we are not even running our tests.
* The documented approach will break existing code.
* The wiki page up to this day had not been updated.
* Corlib contained 5 instances of broken detection.
* Corlib's tests contained 4 failures that would have never worked on OSX.
* System contained 1 instance of broken detection
* System's tests contained 1 instance of broken detection.
* In total 33 incorrect checks existed in our tree (and this was merely with a
simple grep for 128).
Once our documentation has permeated for a while, we can change this value.
