I'm not sure how pool exhaustion is relevant here (which is what the bug report
mentioned is referring to as a potential culprit). The minimum pool size is 100
connections, and we are barely using 1. Could it be that Close() incorrectly
leaves physical connections open while closing logical ones or vise-versa?
