As stated this is fixed in SVN HEAD (r89932) and in the 1-2-6 branch (r89933). 

Since your compiling from source you can apply the patch 
http://lists.ximian.com/archives/public/mono-patches/2007-November/104803.html
and continue your tests or wait for the next preview (or the release) which
will contain the fix.
