+This is _with_ cairo 1.0 installed but _without_ 2.0 installed. gtk#
+links to 1.0 and gmcs is used to compile the stuff and fails with that
+error about not finding cairo 1.0 (although installed) which
+disappears after installing cairo 2.0.
